I live in a Baton Rouge of the mind where ghosts, residual effects, of the past live on in poverty and the lingering sadness of events that transpired about 150 years ago. But my neighborhood is a short bus ride away from the university where a coffee shop and historic diner reside. So I roam avenues of memory to find a world long gone. A swamp park can be found just a few miles away where years ago I took photos of the forest reflected in a perfect mirror of the sky. My writing is born of the imagination with roots in reality that sustain me in my solitude. Mostly I write prose now which is too long for most to wade through. But it takes me places beyond the bus routes where a car took me and my beloved years ago most notably to the grand canyon and points between. But the Miss/Lou region is a locale of rich memoirs. I could ramble on but need not for life fills the gaps in my heart. John John, I went to air force tech school in Biloxi and so i''ve had opportunity to travel in your beautiful state. One fun memory is traveling from San Antonio Texas after basic training,we stopped for lunch in Baton Rouge. Having not seen a female in eight weeks i was convinced that all the prettiest women in the world lived in Baton Rouge. Also good memories of New Orleans and an exceptional lobster thermador i had at the Court of Two Sisters. thanks, John!

Petra my father met my mother while he was going to an Air Force tech school at Keisler in Biloxi. Thanks so much for sharing that! Indeed while in line at a hardware store behind a woman I heard a guy, apparently from somewhere else, comment on how beautiful the women here are and how it must be something in the water. My family took me to Biloxi many times when I was young. Always loved the Mississippi Gulf Coast. When I finally made it to Ship Island and the the beach there I felt like I'd reached paradise. Thanks so much for sharing your experience in my neck of the woods. I spent summers as a teenager at the beach on the coast of Maine. Not sure which beach was the closest to paradise in my heart. But Mississippi feels like home.

... I spent summers as a teenager at the beach on the coast of Maine. ... John Whereabouts in Maine, John? We spent many wedding anniversaries in Ogunquit, and until recently my brother had a summer trailer in Wells. I went scuba diving in Lake Sebago once, outside of Portland...

Drove by Sebago many times on day trips to the White Mountains. But the cottage was near the beach in Ocean Park which is next to Old Orchard all of which are in the vicinity of Saco/Biddeford.

I was born and raised in Iowa, land of corn and hogs. I spent a few years in Kansas and now live on an acreage in Nebraska for the last six years. Been in this area of Nebraska for about 20 years now. I joined the original Arcanum café back in 2001. It’s good to be back and see some familiar faces again. I’m here with blue toothpicks & hopefully the spirits of Paul Kren and Jym Ponter. For those of you that don’t know, Jym passed away on October 20, 2021. My heart is still broken. I am happy to be back amongst friends and writing again!

Welcome back, Tymber. I recall your helping me with formatting / adding spaces, years ago, on either Arcanum or Poets' Point (my fuzzy memory, I now don't recall which site). Thanks, for that <he says, years later>.
