How many more days do I get? How many?
How many more times will I be able to watch the clouds sailing by overhead - like three-masters in full sail on an azure sea like horsies or angels...
How many more times will the wind serenade me? playing its airs on the trees each tree a violin with 1000 strings each tree a percussionist with a myriad arms each joining in to perform the symphony for percussion and wind
How many more? There's no way to know, really - no way but one and that's to ride the train to the very end of the line and each day along the way is another dollar in the bank

"how many roads must a man walk down?" very nice introspective. I often wonder the same things.

thanks judih, winddance
when we're young we think we're immortal even though we know otherwise -
but when I turned 50 it occurred that I had more years behind me than ahead -
now that old age is creeping up I'm aware of all the marvels I may never see - permanent moon bases, whether there's life elsewhere, resolution to the matter-antimatter imbalance, or to the measurement problem in quantum mechanics, or the nature of dark matter & dark energy.... *sigh*
No regrets for things undone, but for the things unlearned..... things undiscovered.....
at least I'll mostly miss out on the climate disaster the ever-more fascist right-wing is so keen on letting happen

This is indeed, our haunting thought. It also demonstrates your your work in mindfulness. very probing and thoughtful piece. It is good to see you writing in a longer form.
